SCORE
SCORE offers free face-to-face consultations with a business professional who can answer questions about starting a new business. Small Business Administration (SBA)

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The SBDC offers sound advice, counseling and support to entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses across the state. The Network, a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration and the University of Maryland College Park, links private enterprise, government, higher education and local economic development organizations to provide management, training and technical assistance to Maryland’s small businesses. Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development (MD DBED)
This department provides several funding programs to help businesses with loans and grants. Visit http://www.choosemaryland.org/ or call 410-767-6300. Many other programs are available for small businesses, minority and disadvantaged businesses, agriculture, transportation and more.

 

Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development (MD DHCD)
Provides financing, tax credits and other programs to businesses who meet criteria, including locating in Enterprise or Empowerment Zones, hiring from qualified low-income groups, encouraging employees’ use of mass transit and purchasing a home near the workplace, etc. Visit www.dhcd.state.md.us.

Montgomery County Resources


Montgomery County Business Information Center
Montgomery County’s Business Information Center is dedicated to serving businesses in the County with education, counseling and assistance with applications for procurement, financing, and more. The center also provides access to books, magazines and online resources for businesses, as well as a full calendar of business seminars. Montgomery County Department of Economic Development – Small Business Services
The department offers counseling, legal assistance, and training to small and minority businesses that are getting started or moving here. Financial resources available include the Small Business Revolving Loan Fund, Economic Development Fund, Technology Growth Fund, and Microenterprise Funds. Montgomery County's Local Small Business Reserve Program (LSBRP)
The LSBRP ensures that all County departments set aside a minimum of 10 percent of procurements for local small businesses.
